Tentpole: You’ve Never _____? (Part 1)

This is one of a few posts that will (hopefully) establish some  parameters for my viewpoints going forward.  And it may very well require some semi-regular updating.  I would also strongly encourage you to add your own.

So, let’s get this out of the way: I have more music than you do in all likelihood.  Somewhere well north of 2200 albums (not counting singles), so I listen a lot.  And while my tastes very much ebb and flow, I do feel it wise to let you know where I’m coming from.

And (not to sound like a recovering Humanities major) we are often defined by what we aren’t as much as what we are.  So, let’s do some defining by telling you some bands I have (swear on a stack of Bibles) NEVER listened to an entire album by.

Just so we’re clear, I do have some passing familiarity with probably most of these bands.  When you look at the list, it’d be hard to believe otherwise, based on some of the names there.  But, if you ever find yourself wondering how I could think something, this might help.  Or not.  Your reader mileage may vary.

Bands/Artists I’ve Never Listened To A Whole Album Of:

Pink Floyd

Joni Mitchell

Eagles

Yes

Talking Heads

Blondie

Steely Dan

ELO

Crosby, Stills & Nash/Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young/Neil Young

Flying Burrito Brothers

Whiskeytown

Uncle Tupelo/Wilco/Son Volt

Dinosaur Jr.

N.W.A./Dr. Dre/Snoop Doggy Dogg

Lady Gaga

Madonna

Blue Oyster Cult

Gwen Stefani

Boston

UFO

Venom

I look forward to paring that list down some and telling y’all about it.  Did I leave anything out?
